Transforming Joy For Desert Living
If I Only Had One Day To Live

Time For Jesus

TimeForJesus

Monday: Read Ephesians 4:17-19. This passage does an incredible job describing "desert living." How does this passage describe the desert of sin and the consequences of sin? Which of these descriptions speak most powerfully into your life? Why? Take a moment to silently pray, confessing the sings that are blowing in the deserts of this life.

Tuesday: Read Colossians 2:13-15. This passage describes the desert of sin as being "dead in our transgressions." The passage then goes on to vividly describe the consequences of us and the world of Jesus' ministry. How are we and the world impacted by Jesus?

Wednesday: Read Isaiah 40:29-31. Desert travelers need strength for the journey. Today's passage lifts our incredible God up as the ultimate source strength. Which description of strength resonates with your heart? What does it mean to "wait on the Lord?" What does "waiting on the Lord" look like in your life?

Thursday: Read Deuteronomy 31:7-8. Moses knew that Joshua was the one to lead Israel into the Promised Land and to carry out this work, but Joshua was going to need superhuman courage and strength. What comfort does Moses give to Joshua? Specifically, what are the four encouraging truths spoken to Joshua? While this promise was given specifically to Joshua, we have Jesus' promise "I am with you always ..." How are we called to be like Joshua?

Friday: Read Hebrews 11:32-40. The desert of life is filled with challenges. This is nothing new. In the passage we see some mighty saints of the past who were confronted with daunting challenges. What are some of the victories cited in this text? Verse 38 begins with the words "... the world was not worthy of them." Which might this mean? Verse 39 tells us what these saints possessed that allow them such "victories." How was their victory a "spiritual victory?"

Saturday: Read Hebrews 13:6 Pray this wonderful verse, giving thanks and praise to God. Finish your prayer by offering your life up to  God and asking Him to use your single life for His Kingdom!
