Gentleness-is-not-weakness

Pastor Burkey delivered this week’s message on gentleness from God’s Life-building Word based on Philippians 4:5 (NIVBELIEVE p. 466).

Monday: Read Proverbs 15:1 (NIV) and Proverbs 25:15 (NIV). What do these wise words of Solomon teach you about the power of gentleness? Where do you find “gentleness power” the most difficult place to live? The easiest place to live?

Tuesday: Read Matthew 11:28-29 (NIVBELIEVE p. 471). Why do you think our country is filled with anger? How might Jesus’ invitation offer a better way for our world? For you personally? Where do you need rest for your soul?

Wednesday: Read Philippians 4:2 (NIVBELIEVE p. 474). When are you most challenged with your words and your tone to be thoughtful of others? How might the four words: “Help me to understand”, help you in being gentle? Is there a place where you need to seek such understanding?

Thursday: Read Matthew 11:29-30 (NIVBELIEVE p. 471). What burden do you carry that Jesus can lighten for you? How might gentleness be the way Jesus lightens that burden in your life?

Friday: Read Philippians 4:3-4 (NIVBELIEVE p. 474). Why is rejoicing (returning to Jesus as the source of our joy) vital to resolving conflict and living with the power of gentleness? Where do you need to apply such rejoicing power in your life today?

Saturday: Read Philippians 4:5 (NIVBELIEVE p. 474). Instead of firing words in anger to someone else, where can you fire up words in prayer to God?
