Be: Why Is It Important To Be Loyal And Committed To Others?

Loyal-Linked-Together

Pastor Burkey delivered this week’s message from God’s Life-building Word based on Proverbs 3:3-4 (NIV, BELIEVE, p. 451).

Monday: Read Psalm 36:5 (NIV, BELIEVE p. 453). Where have you seen God’s love and faithfulness at work in your life this past week? In the past 5 years? In the past 20 years? What does that tell you about God’s faithfulness as you live life today?

Tuesday: Read Psalm 36:9 (NIV, BELIEVE p. 453). Why does the Bible often describe God as light? Where do you need His faithful light to guide your path?

Wednesday: Read Luke 1:38 (NIV, BELIEVE p. 463). What motivates you to be a faithful servant of God? When does your faithful service get off track? Take time to confess your sin of being unfaithful in serving God, seeking and receiving God’s forgiveness. Then take time to commit anew to be the LORD’s servant.

Thursday: Read Luke 1:38 (NIV, BELIEVE p. 463). What area of life do you find your will getting in the way of God’s will? How can you stay faithfully aligned to God’s will for your life? Where do you need to pray to God, Your will, not my will, be done?

Friday: Read Proverbs 3:3 (NIV, BELIEVE p. 454). What area of life would you like to grow in faithfulness? What visual reminders will you use to keep you faithful? Who will hold you accountable?

Saturday: Read Proverbs 3:4 (NIV, BELIEVE p. 454). As you seek to live faithfully before God and people, who are you praying for to come to know Jesus as his or her Savior

Be: What Does It Mean To Do The Right Thing In My Relationships?

Strong-relationships

Pastor John delivered this week’s message from God’s Life-building Word based on 1 Thessalonians 5:15 (NIV, BELIEVE, p. 434).

Monday: Read Psalm 119:68 (NIV); Psalm 107:1 (NIV); and Psalm 145:9 (NIV). Create a list of truths that these passages tell you about goodness and God. Say a prayer based on the list you just created.

Tuesday: Read Psalm 31:19 (NIV). Have you ever run into a season of life where problems, difficulties, and challenges have overrun you? During these seasons of life it’s like living in a black tunnel. It can be so hard to see any goodness. When have you experienced something similar to this? What are the truths held in the precious passage of God’s Word that can help a person in one of those seasons?

Wednesday: Read Psalm 34:8 (NIV). Tasting and seeing are two of our physical senses. They are hugely important to life. How do you suppose a person can taste and see God’s goodness? Name one act of faith that you can do today to taste and see God’s goodness.

Thursday: Read Luke 14:7-14 (NIV). In this reading Jesus tells two stories, but they were both told in the same setting. Take a careful look at these two stories. Why did Jesus tell them back-to-back? What is the common thread that runs through both of them? The key to these stories is found in Verse 11. How does humility and pride play into our ability to live lives of kindness and goodness?

Friday: Read Luke 6:43-45 (NIV). This passage underlines the truth we heard in this past Sunday’s sermon, kindness and goodness flow out of our hearts. It comes from who I am and who God has transformed me into. What setting do you place yourself into so that God can do the heavy lifting of changing your heart? What gets in your way of allowing God to do this work in you?

Saturday: Read Ephesians 4:31-5:2 (NIV). This passage is filled with instructions on how we, as Christ followers, are to live and act. In your own words, summarize what these instructions mean to you. This passage also points us to the foundation of our behavior. Where in this passage do you see this foundation?
