Pastor John delivered this week’s message from God’s Life-building Word based on John 15:11 (NIV and BELIEVE, p. 353). Are you on the track where the "CIRCUMSTANCES OF LIFE" drive your joy, or are you letting "KNOWING GOD'S LOVE" drive your joy?
Monday: Read John 15:4-5 (NIV). Here Jesus gives insight into the matter of spiritual fruit-bearing. What is needed for the branch to bear fruit? Explain what “abiding” or “remaining” in Christ looks like in your life.
Tuesday: Read Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV). How can what you are draw attention to God or away from God? What of yours does Verse 16 say they should see? These good works are your participation in God’s work of drawing people to Jesus. Rejoice!! Which of your good works brings you the most joy?
Wednesday: Read Jeremiah 17:5-8 (NIV). How does this passage characterize the person who trusts in “man?” How does this passage characterize the person who trusts in the Lord? How does trust in the Lord lead to joy?
Friday: Read Luke 18:29-30 (NIV). As we live out our Christian faith we “become” Jesus’ hands of mercy and care. That means that we serve others. This always involves giving up something. What did Jesus promise to those who had “given up” much to follow him?
Saturday: Read Psalm 16:11 (NIV). According to this passage where is joy found? What habits in your life make known God’s path of life? Thank God in prayer for how he so faithfully makes himself known to you and brings you joy.
