Experience The Power Of Easter

Easter-crosses

Pastor Burkey delivered this week’s Easter message from God’s Life-building Word based on John 20:18 (NIV).

Monday: Read Acts 10:39-40 (NIV). Who are the witnesses that have lead you to experience the power of Easter? Who is God calling you to witness the power of Easter? Why are Peter’s words essential to understanding and experiencing Easter’s power?

Tuesday: Read Acts 10:43 (NIV). How does Peter’s personal experience with forgiveness impact the message he shares with Cornelius? What sins do you need to bring today before Jesus to ask forgiveness? Who might you need to forgive?

Wednesday: Read John 20:4-8 (NIV). John and Peter go to the tomb and John puts the pieces together to believe Jesus is risen. As you look at God at work in your life, what is your theory for where He might be leading you? How does that match up with God’s Word? With experiencing the power of Easter in your life today?

Thursday: Read John 20:15 (NIV). Mary Magdalene hurts and Jesus brings her hope. What hurt do you need to bring before Jesus to receive His gift of hope? Where might Jesus be leading you to help someone hurting to experience the hope Easter brings?

Friday: Read John 1:38 (NIV). Take some time to think through and pray through Jesus question, “What do you want?”  Picture Jesus asking you that question, what is your answer?

Saturday: Read John 20:18 (NIV). When you experience the power of Easter, joy leads you to share the message. Mary Magdalene goes and tells the disciples. Who is God calling you to share the Easter story with? When will you share the Good News with them? Who can you pray for to know and experience the power of Easter?

Palm Sunday: Building Castles With Jesus

Palm-sunday

As we gear up for Holy Week (Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter), Pastor John delivered this week’s message from God’s Life-building Word based on Luke 19:31-32 (NIV).

Monday: Read Colossians 2:6 (NIV). You received Christ by faith, how then should you live? from these passages how would you define faith:  Acts 27:25 (NIV), Romans 4:20-21 (NIV),  and Hebrews 11:1 (NIV).

Tuesday: Read Matthew 21:22 (NIV), Romans 15:13 (NIV), Ephesians 3:12 (NIV), and Ephesians 6:16 (NIV). What does faith make possible?

Wednesday: Read John 15:7 (NIV), Romans 8:28 (NIV), and Galatians 6:7 (NIV). What promise or truth do you see in these passages, and is there a condition placed on the promise or truth? Why do you feel God places conditions on some of His promises?

Thursday: Read Psalm 33:16-17 (NIV), Proverbs 28:26 (NIV), and Jeremiah 9:23 (NIV). What are some unworthy objects in which people may place their faith? Read Mark 11:22 (NIV). Who should be the object of our faith?

Friday: Read Hebrews 11. This is an incredible chapter in the Bible on faith. Read through this entire chapter, taking note of the things accomplished by faith. Which of the things accomplished by faith do you consider to be the most significant? Why did you choose this?

Saturday: Discover how Jehoshaphat used the promises of God. Read 2 Chronicles 20:1-30. What was the first thing Jehoshaphat did? (2 Chronicles 20:3 & 2 Chronicles 20:6-12). How did God answer him? (2 Chronicles 20:15) What was a promise? What was his next response? (2 Chronicles 20:18) How did he encourage others? (2 Chronicles 20:20) What was the result? (2 Chronicles 20:22 & 2 Chronicles 20:27) How can you apply what you've learned here to your life?

Don't forget to invite others to our Easter Services!!

Act: How Do I Share My Faith With Those Who Don’t Know God?

JesusBridgeToGod

Pastor Burkey delivered this week’s message from God’s Life-building Word based on Ephesians 6:19-20 (page 320) as part of our BELIEVE series.

Monday: Read Ephesians 6:19-20 (BELIEVE p. 330). Pray for those who like Paul (and you) share their faith with others.

  1. whenever: Pray for opportunity to share Jesus in works and words as you serve.
  2. words may be given: Pray for an ear to hear and a heart and mouth to share who Jesus is and the difference He makes in people’s lives.
  3. ambassador: Pray for the responsibility of representing God’s kingdom in this world.
  4. fearlessly: Pray for courage for yourself and others to live and share Jesus.

Tuesday: Read Matthew 5:13 (BELIEVE p. 324). Ask God to be salt to others, so that Christianity is centered in a relationship of what Jesus has done for each of us. Ask God to make you the proper amount of salt needed in each situation to add flavor, spice, preservative, and to enhance the love of Jesus.

Wednesday: Read Colossians 4:6 (BELIEVE p. 330). Ask God for two relationships in life: a close relationship with other believers in Jesus to help you grow spiritually deep and contact with those who do not know Jesus, that you might be part of the fishing net used by God to connect others to Jesus.

Thursday: Read Matthew 5:14-16 (BELIEVE p. 324). Reflect on the gift of forgiveness Jesus has given you, and how He has crossed the bridge and led you to a living relationship with God now and for all eternity. Then ask the Holy Spirit to give you an opportunity to share your faith story with someone else.

Friday: Read Acts 1:8 (BELIEVE p. 327). Where do you need the Holy Spirit’s power to be a witness for Jesus? Where might the Holy Spirit be leading you to share your faith in San Diego? Around the world?

Saturday: Read Matthew 5:13-16 (BELIEVE p. 324). Pray about who God wants you to invite to join us on Easter Sunday to experience the power of Easter. Ask Him to provide the opportunity and courage to invite them to either the 6:30 a.m. service on Mount Helix or one of the sanctuary services at 9 and 11 a.m.

Act: How Do I Best Use My Resources to Serve God and Others?

TithingImage

Pastor Burkey delivered this week’s message from God’s Life-building Word based on 2 Corinthians 8:7 (page 304) as part of our BELIEVE series.

Monday: Read Matthew 2:9-11 (BELIEVE p. 313). Why do you give gifts at Christmas? When was the last time you would describe your giving of resources God provides as being “overjoyed”? Pray for God to give you an opportunity to respond and be overjoyed in your giving today.

Tuesday: Read 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 (BELIEVE p. 316). In what ways are the Macedonians examples of how to best give one’s resources to serve God and others? Is there a specific way they demonstrate where you would like to see growth in your own life of giving and generosity?

Wednesday: Read 2 Corinthians 9:7 (BELIEVE p. 318). How have you experienced such cheerful (literally, “hilarious”) giving in your life? What motivates you to be a cheerful giver?

Thursday: Read 2 Corinthians 8:5 (BELIEVE p. 316) and the great set of questions on page 318 in BELIEVE: On a scale of 1-10, evaluate your level of generosity. What has helped you become more generous? What still causes you to hold back?

Friday: Read 2 Corinthians 9:7 (BELIEVE p. 318). As a follow up to yesterday’s questions, look at the pathway to excel in giving. Circle where you are:

Where-are-you-with-giving

How have you seen your giving and generosity grow? When did you discover that giving was more than money, but all of life? When did you realize giving generously also included money?

Saturday: Read 2 Corinthians 8:5 & 2 Corinthians 9:7 (BELIEVE p. 316 & p. 318). Why is it important to God that we not only excel in the grace of giving but also in becoming a cheerful giver? Where do you need to pray for wisdom and courage to excel in the grace of giving? Where do you need to pray to be more cheerful in your giving?
