Your Personal Grow-Pray-Study (GPS) Guide

Read 1 John 1:8-10.  In this passage we see the crown of God’s faithfulness to us. The amazing thing is that we did not and do not deserve His faithfulness.

Yet because of God’s love and grace He is faithful and He forgives our sins.

Where in your life do you confess your sins to God?

Does confession of your sins need to play a bigger role in your life?

Pray a prayer of confession and then conclude with a prayer of thanksgiving and praise.

Read Luke 22:31-32 and John 17:15-18. Jesus prayed for his followers. He prayed that they would have strength to resist temptation and remain faithful.

Jesus desires for our lives to reflect His and His Father’s faithfulness.

Where in your life do you need God’s help to remain faithful?

Pray that God would help you to be faithful.

Read 1 Corinthians 4:2. As Christians we have been entrusted with the “secret things of God.”

Included in these “secret things” is the Gospel, the Good News that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross forgave the sins of humanity.

How does God call you to be a faithful steward of the Gospel?

Read Numbers 23:19 and Psalm 89:1-2. God is by His very nature, faithful.

How do these passages from the Bible explicitly speak of His faithfulness?

What aspect of God’s faithfulness is most meaningful to you?

Read Jeremiah 29:11. Describe a time God gave you wisdom to deal with a particular situation. What was the outcome?

Why is trust and obey the best response to God’s wisdom based on this verse?

Where do you need to trust and obey God today?

Is the issue more one of trust or obedience?

Why do you think there is such a close relationship between obedience and wisdom?

Read James 1:5. When was the last time you failed to act wisely?

What were the circumstances, and what were the consequences?

As you think over your life today, where do you need to receive God’s wisdom to guide you?

Take time to pray to Him for wisdom in that area (and all areas) of your life.

Read Proverbs 2:1-9. Many people ask, "How can I know God's will?"

According to these verses, what are some concrete next steps to take?

Read Proverbs 2:6-15.  Is the mere attainment of intellectual knowledge enough for wisdom or does wisdom require that knowledge be acted upon in daily life (2:7-8)?

What are some of the benefits of the wisdom that God gives and Solomon describes?

Read Proverbs 2:1-5. In verse 2 the Hebrew word for heart refers to the core of us where we think, feel, choose and believe basic beliefs.

It is often translated "mind," so we shouldn't think of the heart just as the place of emotions.

According to 2:1-5, how can one understand "the fear of the Lord"?
